What is an Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve?
An IAC valve is a small but important part of your vehicle’s engine. It is responsible for controlling the amount of air that bypasses the throttle plate, which in turn regulates the engine’s idle speed. A faulty IAC valve can cause a variety of problems, including:

  • Rough idling
  • Stalling
  • Difficulty starting
  • Increased emissions
  • Poor fuel economy

How to Install an Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve
Installing an IAC valve is a relatively simple process. However, it is important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully to ensure proper installation. Here are the general steps involved:

  1. Locate the IAC valve. It is usually located on the intake manifold.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the IAC valve.
  3. Remove the two bolts that hold the IAC valve in place.
  4. Pull the IAC valve straight out of the intake manifold.
  5. Insert the new IAC valve into the intake manifold.
  6. Tighten the two bolts that hold the IAC valve in place.
  7. Reconnect the electrical connector to the IAC valve.
